Travel Update

Dear Primary 6 Families,

Our estimated time of arrival back at Sciennes is 12:00pm. The buses are planning to reverse down Sciennes Road, as they did on Monday.

We’ll hold the children on the buses until the cases are offloaded. We would appreciate your help in grabbing any suitcase and moving it into the playground. Once that’s done, we’ll offload the children!

We have P6A and P6B girls on one bus, then P6C and P6B boys on the other.

Please check here for any further travel updates.

See you soon.

Day 4

And just like that, we’ve reached Thursday night.

Today we’ve had another full day of activities : caving, high ropes, orienteering, shore, gorge and forest walks, and biking. We’ve enjoyed a delicious meal of pizza and wedges with sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, followed by the final night activity, the Benmore disco.

The children have been a real pleasure to be around this week. They have been positive, friendly, independent, brave, resilient, supportive and all round fabulous campers.

We know that they are excited to tell you all about their experiences and are looking forward to getting home.

Our aim is to be back between 12 – 12:30, depending on ferry crossings and traffic. We’ll send out an update once we reach Gourock.

Day 3

Three days down, two to go!

Today we’ve seen all forms of weather: sun, rain and even a spot of snow. And it’s been great!

The children have enjoyed another full day of activities : canoeing, caving, climbing, abseiling, biking, gorge walking and high ropes. The staff, both Benmore and Sciennes, have been impressed by the positive ‘can do’ attitudes we’ve all seen and are really enjoying spending time on activities and around the centre with the children.

Tonight, we’ve stocked up on souvenirs and are now chilling with a movie.

Tomorrow we have our last day of activities, followed by the infamous Benmore disco.

Day 2

Day two has been action-packed.

The children have enjoyed their first full day of activities, including biking, high ropes, caving, gorge walking & climbing. We’ve had good weather today – even some blue skies – and all is well.

Ms McGhee came for a visit and enjoyed exploring the forest, and Ms Gallagher is due to arrive tomorrow morning.

Tonight’s activity is a scavenger hunt, followed by what we imagine will be a good sleep after an adventurous day out!

Once we’ve had a chance to share photos, we’ll upload one of each group. The rest of the photos will be uploaded on return.

Day 1

We’ve arrived!

After arriving at the centre at 1:30, the children have been sorted into groups, they’ve met their instructors, they’ve made beds and have unpacked. The red waterproofs have been put to good use already during a wander around the beautiful botanic gardens and will come in handy again after dinner for the night walk.

Tomorrow the children have their first full day of activities. We’ll send another update again tomorrow.

We also recommend watching this overview video:

The trip is published on ParentPay.

Please feel welcome to contact with any questions.

Thank you for your time and we are really looking forward to working with you in the lead up to the residential. We have issued KiC forms and suggested clothing lists and will issue KIC medical forms the week before the trip (to be returned with medication in a clear, labelled bag on the day of the trip).
